Karma

The last week has gone by smoothly and without incident... makes me weary of the days ahead, I'm sure something is lurking around the corner ready to attack. The cats have been behaving, meaning they haven't broken any lamps lately, and there have been no close encounters of the critter kind. I had a great weekend full of mimosas, sangria, and wine (that was just the baby shower, ha!), a cookout with friends, and dinner to celebrate Mom's birthday (39 right Mom?). Work has been really busy but in a good way, I tend to get bored when there isn't much to do. Oh, and as for the contact situation, I am happy to report that I have, of course, won this battle. It may have taken approximately 7 days (lie! more like 10) but I am victorious. I am displeased of course with my less than stellar ability of my eyes to not blink, water, or otherwise freak the freak out, especially when I am commanding them not to, but a win is a win. I'll take it. I'm quite pleased to tell you that this morning I got them in 1st try on each eye. BAM! Who's the boss? Me, that's who.

Oh the Karma Gods of the Universe never fail to let me down! Just when I think I'm safe... Literally as I'm taking a break from writing this (to do some work, since I am in fact at work, hehe), I get up from my desk and before doing so I put my shoes back on. I'm wearing my Jack Rogers today and they are super cute as always. Anyway, my right shoe sure does feel loose. OH, that would be because my shoe is BROKEN. In case you have been unfortunate in not being familiar with Jack Rogers, they go between your toes like flip flops and the rest is super cuteness and awesomeness on the top of your foot like a sandal. And of course, the part between my toes broke. I mean really? It's like trying to wear flip flops without the flip. I practiced walking around my office to see if I could walk in them but it totally didn't work. I'm going to have to glue them. Ugh! But first I had to tape them with scotch tape (which does not look ghetto at ALL let me tell you) so I could walk down the hall to the gift shop and buy some krazy glue. There I was, walking s u p e r s l o w so as not to disturb the delicately placed scotch tape that was holding my shoe together, feeling all kinds of like an idiot. Not only was I walking slow but I looked like I had some sort of weird limp because of the way I had to pick my foot up and put back down all weird like. Add to this the humiliation from walking around last week with dilated eyes wearing those "sunglasses" (more like super-reflective plastic lenses a la Star Wars) and I may have officially achieved "that girl from the Blue Zone" status. Sweet.

And even better, school starts back tonight, woo! Not. Can't wait to see what disorganized professor and schedule of assignments I have this semester. Did I mention we haven't even gotten a syllabus or access to the class on Blackboard yet? Way to start off the year!

Well, I'm off to glue my shoe. Here's hoping that tomorrow's post isn't about how I glued my shoe to my foot.
